Authorities Investigating Baby's Death In Beaver Co.

BADEN (KDKA) -- Police and the Beaver County Coroner's Office are investigating the death of a small child.

The 6-month-old baby was found unresponsive in a car in the parking lot of the Sheetz on Route 65 in Baden.

The coroner's office identifies the little girl as Kourtney Taylor, she was born in April.

The child's parents live in Ambridge, a few miles away. They told police they found the baby not breathing in their apartment Saturday afternoon.

They jumped in a car parked outside and were taking the child to a hospital when they said they ran out of gas.

Authorities say they then flagged down a Good Samaritan who drove them to the Sheetz and that's where police and paramedics were called. However, there was nothing anyone could do for the baby.

The coroner performed an autopsy Sunday, but the results were inconclusive. More tests will be needed to determine her cause of death.

The parents are in police custody. They were arrested on bench warrants unrelated to the child's death.

Police said the car the couple got in outside their apartment was reported stolen by someone else from a Washington County car rental business.
