Former Steeler Andy Russell Supporting Food Bank In Multiple Ways

PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) - Former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker and Super Bowl champion Andy Russell joined "The KDKA Morning News" to talk about his Helping Hour event Monday to support the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.

The tickets are $75 and Russell says it's a great way to meet a few former Steelers.

"J.T. Thomas will be there, Rocky Bleier, Matt Bahr, Todd Kalis, and some others," says Russell.

The Helping Hour is a half volunteering and half mingling event with food and drinks and the former Steelers.

Russell says the $75 ticket price will allow the food bank to provide more than 300 meals.

Russell adds part of his charitable nature comes from the Rooney's.

"We were taught that you got to give back to the town and not just play football. You got to be involved in various charitable efforts," says Russell.

Another effort that Russell is involved in is the Kick Hunger Challenge which is an online fundraiser throughout the NFL to raise money for food banks in cities nationwide."
