Detectives Looking Into Deadly Shooting Outside Of Rankin Bar

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Allegheny County homicide detectives are looking into a deadly shooting outside of a bar in Rankin.

The shooting happened near Ray and Jerry's Tavern along Fleet Street around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday.

One man was shot in the face, another man was shot multiple times in the legs and back. Both of them were rushed to the hospital.

"One with wounds to his lower extremities, one with wounds to his head and neck. That man did succumb to his wounds and was pronounced dead sometime early this morning," Allegheny County Police Lt. Andrew Schurman said. "The bar is a landmark. We believe the victims may have been in the bar. The shooting happened outside of the bar."

According to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office, Walter Glenn, 27, of Swissvale, died from his injuries at Forbes Hospital. He was shot in the face and neck. An autopsy is scheduled for Friday.

Glenn leaves behind several children and we believe he was an aspiring rapper. His social media pages link to several music videos in which he appears to be the star.

Police believe the shooter fled the scene on foot.

Initially, police put a bulletin out over the scanner for a dark colored Jeep Cherokee that may have been involved in the shooting.

There were more than a dozen evidence markers at the scene, as well as secondary markers. There were also clothes and shoes, as well as blood, left behind on the street and on at least one car.

Police gathered evidence and cleared the scene around 2:45 a.m. on Friday.

The bar, which is under the Rankin Bridge, opened at 8 a.m. Friday. The bartender who works the day shift said she was contacted last night and told about what happened.

"I was praying no one got killed. Since this has never happened before here, I was real shocked and surprised because the two years I have been here, it's never happened," she said.

No arrests have been made at this time and police are working to see if there is any surveillance video.
