Cold Weekend Could Bring First Frost, Freeze Of The Season

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – This weekend could mark several weather firsts for the season.

KDKA Meteorologist Ron Smiley says this weekend could bring the first frost, freeze and winter mix.

However, for lower elevation places, there shouldn't be many road issues on Saturday and Sunday. And the coldest parts of the weekend are also expected to be the driest. The times when rain is expected are anticipated to be above 35 degrees, says Smiley.

A Freeze Watch has been issued from late Saturday night through Sunday morning for parts of the area including Allegheny, Beaver, Greene and Washington counties.

Saturday is expected to be the coldest day with a high of only 46 degrees. Sunday won't be much better with a high of 47.

And if you're not totally ready for the dip in temperatures, there's good news. Mid-week next week should see more seasonal temperatures in the 60s that should last for the following 10 days.
