Superheroes Wash Windows, Bring Cheer To Children's Hospital

LAWRENCEVILLE (KDKA) -- Halloween is still a few days away, but some window washers broke out their superhero costumes today.

Batman and his friends created a lot of smiles among patients at Children's Hospital in Lawrenceville. The superheroes suited up and repelled down the front of the hospital. Their mission was not only to do some window washing, but to bring smiles to a place often filled with tears and sadness.

"Spider-Man shoots webs and stuff, and Batman can fly," patient R.J. McGregor said.

"I feel really happy because Batman is my favorite superhero," another patient, Karme Hardy, said.

"I think they are cool and awesome, and my daddy likes one of those superheroes," patient Nivea Hardy said.

Although her dad likes the comic book characters, little Nivea Hardy was hoping someone else, someone a little more girly, would make an appearance.

"I only like Hello Kitty," she said.

Maybe next time Hello Kitty will join in. In the meantime, these window washers with Allegheny Window Cleaning say they will continue what's become a fun and rewarding tradition here at the hospital.

"These kids go through a lot, I know they do, and it makes me feel good just to have them smile," window washer Ed Hetrick said.

"It gives you a little warm feeling inside, a little tingling," window washer Jim Zaremba said. "Wow, I am making a difference."
