Wilkinsburg High School Students Play Final Football Game

WILKINSBURG (KDKA) -- It was a bittersweet afternoon in Wilkinsburg when the high school football team took the field for the final time on Senior Day.

That's because Wilkinsburg students will attend Westinghouse Academy in Pittsburgh following an agreement reached between the two districts earlier this week. Financial problems and a declining enrollment prompted the move.

Even so, some say it's a sad day.

"It's sad we have to go out this way," said Wilkinsburg girl's varsity basketball coach Wilfred Dennis. "The kids are gonna do well."

Wilkinsburg lost the game to Serra Catholic, 23-20.
