Ringling Bros. Ringmaster Gets Black & Gold Tour Of Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus is in town for eight shows at CONSOL Energy Center.

But first, ringmaster Jonathan Lee Iverson and performer Paulo Santos boarded Molly's Trolley for the "greatest tour on earth." (Or at least, the immediate vicinity.)

"We make our way into the bulk of the Strip District," the trolley guide announced.

Though the New York native is no fan of the Steelers, Iverson took in stride a visit to a black-and-gold haven called Mike Feinberg's. Marcia Feinberg says the shop has something for everyone.

This is what we call Pittsburghese," she explained. "'Redd up' means clean up."

Next stop: Primanti's. The ringmaster and his sidekick admit they've never had a sandwich with French fries on it.

Iverson says the performers are for real.

'We're not playing roles. I'm really a ringmaster. I just put on this garb here. He [Santos] is who he is. You don't play a high wire walker. You don't play a trapeze artist."

As for the Primanti's sandwich?

"It's the way God meant for me to eat," he smiles.
