New Trailer For "Concussion" Features Beauty Shots Of Heinz Field, Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- There's a new trailer out for the Will Smith movie, "Concussion," that was shot in Pittsburgh last year.

The new film, being described as a dramatic thriller, is due to hit theaters on Christmas Day.

Just like the first trailer released at the end of August, this one features lots of shots of Pittsburgh landmarks.

It opens with a beauty shot of Heinz Field, and the stadium is featured several more times throughout the trailer. There are also lots of shots of our iconic bridges and rivers, and scenes shot at Cupples Stadium on the South Side.

In "Concussion," Will Smith plays Dr. Bennet Omalu.

The former Allegheny County medical examiner discovered a link between football-related brain injuries and dementia, during Iron Mike Webster's autopsy.

The NFL pushed back against Dr. Omalu's findings of chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or CTE.

Last year, while the movie was filming here in town, Webster's son told KDKA he thinks the movie will shed even more light on head injuries and football.

"If this movie and my dad's story helps that, that's better than Super Bowls," said Garrett Webster in Oct. 2014. "That's better than the Hall of Fame, those kinds of things. You know, if you can help people not suffer any more, not go through pain, I don't think really you can accomplish any more than that in your life."

The movie also stars Stephen Moyer, Alex Baldwin, Luke Wilson and Hill Harper.

The making of the movie also provided a boost to the local economy.
