Pittsburgh Man Indicted, Accused Of Ordering Murders From Prison

PITTSBURGH (KDKA)- A Pittsburgh man in federal prison has been indicted on charges of soliciting his cellmate to kill several witnesses against him.

Price Montgomery, 35, was arrested back in 2014, after police found heroin in the car he was driving. Police then searched Montgomery's home in Mt. Washington and found 1,500 bricks of heroin and $100,000.

The new charges accuse Montgomery of soliciting his cellmate to murder a witness he believed was cooperating with police in a money-laundering investigation.

The indictment also accuses Montgomery of soliciting the murder of another person for her alleged cooperation and possible testimony against him.

The complaint also says Montgomery's cell phone was found at the scene of the August 2014 fatal shooting of Tina Crawford in the Hill District. She was shot and killed an hour before she was set to meet with federal and state officials about testifying in a drug case.

According to the indictment, Montgomery's cellmate said he referred to Crawford's murder as "the situation" and was careful not to talk about in their cell, for fear of being monitored. The paperwork says Montgomery talked to his cellmate about joining the drug operation and gave him instructions to get in touch with Montgomery's New Jersey contacts so he could kill witnesses.

Federal and state agents say Montgomery was the leader of a heroin trafficking ring in Pittsburgh that was supplied from dealers in New Jersey.
