Police Arrest, Charge Victim's Ex-Boyfriend In East Hills Fatal Shooting

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Pittsburgh Police say they have taken the person of interest wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of a young mother in a home in the East Hills into custody.

Marqua Wilson, 28, was found dead in a second floor bedroom of an apartment on Wilner Drive Monday afternoon. According to a GoFundMe page set up for Wilson's children, she left behind eight children. You can donate to the GoFundMe account here: https://www.gofundme.com/6x9nv46c

According to police, 20-year-old Markese Reese of Verona was arrested just before 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the home of an acquaintance on Chaske Street in Penn Hills.

On Monday night, police identified Reese as a person of interest in Wilson's death. Investigators say they were once in a relationship.

He is now facing criminal homicide charges in connection with the investigation.

According to the criminal complaint, Reese and the victim had allegedly been fighting over money. The criminal complaint reports a witness told police they heard a "boom" coming from an upstairs bedroom and then saw Reese covered in blood.

Neighbors reportedly saw a man running from the home.

In their search for Reese on Monday, police converged on a motel in North Versailles and a home in Penn Hills, but they didn't find anything in either location.
