Hazelwood Shooting Leaves 1 Man Dead

HAZELWOOD (KDKA) – An investigation is underway after a woman came home and found her boyfriend dead near his front door. Thursday evening, police said it was murder.

According to police, the shooting happened in the 5000 block of Ampere Street around 12:30 p.m.

Family members described the victim, 52-year-old James Paige, as a father, a brother, a very generous man.

Paige had five sisters. Late Thursday afternoon, they all gathered on Ampere Street looking for answers. Who shot their brother inside his home and why?

Who would leave him there for his kids to find his lifeless body near the front door? Although police say he may have been shot in the ktichen.

"There's no way somebody could get shot 12 times and nobody don't hear or see nothing," Delari Clemmons, one of Paige's sisters, said. "Somebody heard something. Somebody saw something."

"They didn't have to do this to him, and then for his children to come home and find him, babies," Mary Paige, another sister, said.

Police removed a white Jeep Laredo from the scene, but there is no indication so far why. All his sisters know is that their only brother is gone, and they believe someone knows what happened to him.

"I'm going to stand for my brother," Roxanne West, another sister, said. "Somebody's got to stand. I'm going to stand for my brother."

Councilman Corey O'Connor showed up on the scene, saying that neighbors called him to come to scene because the incident occurred in a quiet part of Hazelwood.

Pittsburgh Police say they want to hear from anyone who has information about the shooting.
