Fire Destroys Cecil Township Home

CECIL TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – A home in Washington County was destroyed by an early morning fire.

According to officials at the scene, the fire started at a home on Davis Lane in Cecil Township around 7 a.m.

Huge plumes of smoke could be seen billowing from the home.

A relative says the homeowner lived with her daughter and grandchildren. They all made it out safely.

The daughter was taken to a local hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.

Crews from seven different fire departments helped to put out the fire, including all three of the Cecil Township volunteer fire departments.

This was the second fire in less than 12 hours for Cecil Township firefighters. They battled another house fire Tuesday night.

Wednesday morning, they spent several hours dousing the flames and putting out hot spots at the home on Davis Lane.

An excavator was brought in, to tear down part of the one-story brick home. Firefighters wanted to make sure all of the hot spots were extinguished.

The family will spend Thanksgiving with relatives who live nearby.

The state fire marshal's office has been notified of the house fire. They will be investigating to determine the cause.
