Overnight Crash In New Kensington Shuts Down Road For Hours

NEW KENSINGTON (KDKA)- A crash in Westmoreland County shut down a highway for more than three hours overnight.

New Kensington police are investigating the overnight crash. It happened at the intersection of Fourth Street and Stephenson Boulevard. The area had to be shut down for several hours.

Justin Machen says his father Terry was involved in the accident in New Kensington just after 10:00 p.m. Wednesday.

"He was going to pick up my sister-in-law and he never got there," said Justin Machen, standing outside his home Thursday morning.

Several vehicles were involved in the wreck, including Terry Machen's pickup truck that reportedly veered into oncoming traffic and went into a guardrail, striking two other cars and a small SUV. Machen was taken to Allegheny General Hospital to be treated for his injuries. KDKA found Terry Machen's Facebook page. A family member says he may have had a heart attack behind the wheel.

When asked if Terry Machen had any medical concerns or a condition that the family knew of, Justin Machen replied, "Nope."

Justin Machen says he hasn't been able to see his father since the accident, and he asks for prayers for Terry Machen's recovery.

"He's a very nice guy and I really don't want to lose him yet," commented Justin Machen.

Police have not yet released any information on the cause of the crash.
