Elderly Woman Killed In Westmoreland County Fire

WESTMORELAND COUNTY (KDKA) -- A woman was killed early Sunday morning when a fire broke out in her trailer home in Westmoreland County.

The elderly woman, who was reportedly handicapped, died around 5 a.m. following a fire at her trailer home on Alexander Place in Washington Township.

The Westmoreland County Coroner's Office has identified the victim as 81-year-old Shirley Cole.

She was found by first responders in her bedroom and pronounced dead at the scene.

Washington Township Police, the state police fire marshal and Westmoreland County detectives are investigating the cause of the fire.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday.
