Steelers' Safety Allen Helping Kids Pay It Forward This Holiday Season

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - People hear the phrase "pay it forward" on a regular basis. Now, a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers wants to make certain that area kids know what it means.

Steelers' safety Will Allen took a bunch of kids from the Boys and Girls club shopping at Kmart.

"It has been a lot of people coming together for a great cause to help these kids to help them to have Christmas and it's just phenomenal," Allen said.

Allen's foundation is behind the outing, but he wants to make sure the kids understand that Christmas is more than the presents you get.

Allen spent time with the children helping them decide what to give to special people on their list.

"They didn't know that they had to buy gifts for their family as well, so they are going to get a gift, but they also have to go out and shop for their families. What the Will Allen Foundation we are always about paying it forward and giving back so we are teaching them something as they are receiving something here today," Allen said.

He wasn't afraid to call the kids on it if something in their cart looked a little suspicious.

Allen stresses how important it is to give back because he feels he has been given so much by this city.

"To be able to have the platform and be blessed to have the platform of professional sports and to be a blessing and give back to my community of Pittsburgh, it's awesome. It's an awesome feeling," he said.
