Firefighters Struggle With Water Pressure During Elizabeth Twp. Fire

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Officials are investigating a fire that destroyed a home in Elizabeth Township Monday afternoon.

Units responded to the fire that started inside a house on Industry Road around 3 p.m.

No one was in the home at the time, and no injuries were reported, but firefighters said there was difficulty putting the fire out.

"We kept losing water," said Elizabeth Township Fire Department Chief Robert Greenwald. "We started getting the streams going pretty good, then all of a sudden, we'd lose all the pressure. It'd go down to nothing. We'd lose the system totally. ... We're trying to figure it out. The water company's working on it now."

Neighbors say a man who lived in the home had recently been moved into an assisted living facility after his wife died.
