Cleanup Continues At Site Of Greenfield Bridge Implosion

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The round-the-clock work to clean up the rubble left behind on the Parkway East following the implosion of the Greenfield Bridge is continuing.

All the steel and concrete from the bridge is gone.

The dirt used as a cushion during the demolition has also been cleared from the inbound lanes, and it is just about gone on the outbound side.

The only damage found so far is a crack on the shoulder of the outbound lanes.

"The main roadway is fine; we experienced one crack in the shoulder that we're going to have to patch. We will do that first thing tomorrow morning," said Derrick Jeannerette, of Mosites Constrution.

PennDOT inspectors will be out Thursday morning to check for any additional damage.

Sources tell KDKA crews are pushing hard to reopen at least the inbound side by Thursday afternoon, and the outbound should open not long after.

That's a full day ahead of schedule.
