Steelers Fans Gather To Watch Games With Playoff Hopes In Mind

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Excitement was running high in Steeler Nation with dreams of a 7th Super Bowl victory after the Steelers secured a spot in the playoffs Sunday.

Steelers fans are, well, Steelers fans -- always hopeful. But going into Sunday's game against Cleveland meant the Steelers had to win, and the New York Jets had to lose in their game against the Buffalo Bills. It all seemed like a long shot at best.

"This day is giving me an anxiety attack, going back and forth," Ryan Cosloy of the South Hills said. "But it's a great day for all of us."

Fans at Jerome Bettis' Grill 36 on the North Shore watched both games at the same time -- knowing what the wanted, but not sure if they were going to get it.

"It's very hard to watch both games," Nancy Chuba of West Homestead said.

"We're just hopeful we get a win," fan Walter Visage said. "We gotta count on another team, and that's not the situation you want to be in. But we're really hopeful that they pull it off."

As the Steelers began to pull away, fans watched what was going on in the Jets-Buffalo game even closer because even if Pittsburgh pulled off the win, playoff hopes still hinged on the Jets.

And at the end of the day, fans did get everything they had been hoping for, at least for this week.
