Former Trinity Teacher Charged With Rape

WASHINGTON, Pa. (KDKA) - A former teacher at Trinity School District has been charged with rape.

Thomas Kelly, 46, is accused of raping two girls between the years of 1996 and 2011. One of the girls was just three years old when the alleged assaults began. Both girls are related to Kelly.

A woman who knows both victims and Kelly chose not be identified, but says the girls, who are now in their 20s, are trying to heal.

"I feel heartbroken. I cant imagine the pain that these girls went through, that their families went through. At this point I hope they have the courage to come forward and seek justice, so they can put this behind them and move on," the woman said.

There was no immediate comment from Trinity schools in Washington County where Kelly taught special education and was a coach.

A woman on his tennis team says she noticed his behavior.

"I was an eyewitness to many different inappropriate behaviors, and heard so many girls either think that it was cool at the time or feel remorseful later. They did nothing wrong," she said.

She went on to say both girls have suffered enormously.

"A lot of heartbreak. Some of their best child hood memories have been taken from them. Watching some of them try to rebuild their young adult lives."
