Police: Firefighter Shoots Out Windows Of Home While Holding 18-Month Old

RESERVE TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- A Pittsburgh firefighter has been placed on leave after shooting out the window of a Reserve Township home early Wednesday morning.

The incident happened before 2 a.m. in the 2100-block of James Drive. Police say George Heinlein, a 10-year veteran firefighter, fired a hand gun in the air and then intentionally shot at the front window of a residence, striking it between four and six times.

At the time of the shooting, police say Heinlein was holding his 18-month-old son.

No one was injured.

Heinlein was arrested and faces a number of charges, including discharging a firearm into an occupied structure and endangering the welfare of children. He is on paid administrative leave.

The Allegheny County Police and the Office of Municipal Investigations will conduct an investigation.
