Penguins: Malkin Ruled Out For Next 2 Games, Fehr To Miss A Month

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The Pittsburgh Penguins are riding a four-game winning streak, but they got some bad news Thursday.

According to the Penguins, Evgeni Malkin and Eric Fehr are set to miss some time due to injury.

Fehr suffered an apparent leg injury in the second period of the team's 6-5 win over Ottawa on Tuesday. Fehr fell down awkwardly in the corner and was visibly favoring his leg going off the ice.

He is expected to miss about a month with what is being described as a "significant lower-body injury."

As for Malkin, he will not accompany the team on their two-game trip to Florida this weekend. The Penguins will take on the Tampa Bay Lightning on Friday and the Florida Panthers on Saturday.

Malkin was a full participant in practice on Wednesday, so it is unclear when he was injured.

According to the team's official website, Malkin suffered a lower-body injury and will be reevaluated when the team returns to Pittsburgh.

In 49 games, Malkin leads the team with 49 points (23 goals, 26 assists).
