New Documentary Examines Which One Loves Us More: Cats Or Dogs
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Many people have pets because they bring us joy. Cat people claim cats are the best. Dog people say dogs are the best.
A BBC2 documentary is now using science to determine which is best: "Cats v. Dogs."
The documentary answers questions like, which animal sees best in the dark? Cats win, paws down. The documentary also asks the questions, which animal loves you the most, and which one is the most intelligent? We stopped by Animal Friends rescue shelter to get some opinions.
Shannon Tremblay of Animal Friends admits she's partial to dogs.
"Dogs are very evident that they love you. Soft wiggly bodies, wagging tails. They may not be the most polite. Sometimes they like to jump on you to show their affection," says Tremblay.
Adoption counselor Erica Keith takes the feline side of the argument.
"Cats are very polite. They're not going to jump on you," Keith says. "They're not going to come right up on you. They build a relationship. So they're going to say I'll come to you when I'm ready, and then I'll mark you as mine."

A neuroscientist discovered the so-called "love hormone" increases by 57 percent when dogs see their owners, and 12 percent for cats. But if you give love, you'll get it back.
As for intelligence:
"I would say that dogs are smarter," Tremblay says. "Just in the ways that you can train them."
"Cats are smartest, because they know they don't have to do anything for you," Keith argues. "Cats rule, while dogs drool."
But another employee differs with both of them.
"Actually, bunnies are the best."
