May remained in critical condition until she was taken off life support Thursday night.

The accident reportedly happened last week while shooting in Los Angeles.

Katie posted on Twitter that the neck pain was so bad she had to go to a hospital to get checked out.

TMZ says doctors told Katie’s family the tear caused a blood clot which broke off and caused her stroke Monday.

May was known for her large social media following, she modeled for Playboy Magazine, and Sports Illustrated.
