PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) – Was Mike Johnston the worst hire in the history of Pittsburgh sports?

That’s the question the men of the “The Fan Morning Show” were asking themselves after the Penguins’ 6-2 thrashing of the Ducks last night.

This morning, as the hosts lauded the work that new head coach Mike Sullivan has done since taking over for Johnston mid-December, Colin Dunlap took it a step further, wondering if Sullivan’s work has made Johnston look like an all-time dud by comparison.

The guys ran through some of the worst hires in the history of Pittsburgh sports – and in the history of Pittsburgh in general – and opened the floor up to listeners via Twitter, asking them to Tweet their choices as well.

The response was so big that was trending on Twitter.

Based on the names received from listeners and the guys, we present to you top five worst hires in Pittsburgh history:

5 – Nate Harper

4 – Todd Graham

3 – John Russell

2 – Mike Haywood

1 – Steely McBeam
