Study Finds Bible More Angry, Violent Than The Quran

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - A new study of Christian and Islamic texts asserts that there is more violence and anger in the Bible than the Quran.

According to stepfeed.com, an American software engineer named Tom Andersen used text analysis to compare the two holy books.

In his study, he writes that the idea that there is something inherently violent about Islam has become the subject of much debate.

"The project was inspired by the ongoing public debate around whether or not terrorism connected with Islamic fundamentalism reflects something inherently and distinctly violent about Islam compared to other major religions," Andersen wrote.

He used an analysis software Odin text and found that killing and destruction are mentioned "slightly more often" in the New Testament than in the Quran. Futhermore he found that killing and destruction are mentioned "more than twice" as often in the Old Testament than the Quran.

Andersen also broke down the texts into eight primary human emotion categories: Joy, Anticipation, Anger, Disgust, Sadness, Surprise, Fear/Anxiety and Trust. He found that the Old Testament was the "angriest."

The software engineer also said that the concept of mercy was most prevalent in the Quran.

Andersen states in his conclusion that his work is just the beginning.

"Of course, we've only scratched the surface here. A deep analysis of unstructured data of this complexity requires contextual knowledge, and, of course, some higher level judgment and interpretation," he wrote.
