Fire Rips Through Third Floor Of Duplex In Southwest Greensburg

SOUTHWEST GREENSBURG (KDKA)- Firefighters rushed to the scene of a duplex fire in Southwest Greensburg early Tuesday morning.

The fire started just before 1 a.m. at a home on Alexander Avenue.

"The homeowner came home and found the fire," said Southwest Greensburg Fire Chief Bill Wright Jr. "He alerted occupants on the other side of the duplex and everybody was out safely by the time firefighters arrived."

The fire was pouring out of the third floor of the one side of the duplex.

Chief Wright said firefighters were able to keep the fire damage to the third floor. The first and second floors had smoke and water damage.

The homeowner had minor burns and was treated by paramedics at the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but firefighters say there is no reason to believe it is suspicious.

A total of six people live in the duplex.
