Fort Cherry Teacher Investigated For Inappropriate Contact With Student

MCDONALD (KDKA) – Police in Washington County are investigating claims of inappropriate contact between a teacher and a student.

According to the Fort Cherry School District Solicitor John Smart, the male teacher allegedly had inappropriate contact with the teenage student.

Smart says the alleged inappropriate conduct did not happened on school property.

The district is not saying if the student is male or female or what the inappropriate behavior entailed.

But Smart did say in a statement: "When the district received certain allegations, the administration acted quickly and correctly. The employee in question was removed from the district that day and has not returned."

An investigation is already underway by the McDonald Police Department.

Smart's statement went on to say: "The administration began an internal investigation and reported its initial findings to the police who are conducting their own investigation."

KDKA's Brenda Waters reports that the McDonald Police chief was in an all-day meeting Wednesday, so KDKA was unable to speak with him about the investigation.

The allegations were made public during a school board meeting earlier this week.
