Police: Pennsylvania Man Who Killed Wife Dies Of Own Wound

HERMITAGE, Pa. (AP) - Police say a western Pennsylvania man who fatally shot his wife last month before shooting himself in the face has died.

Hermitage police say they were told that 51-year-old Edward Tremmel died of his wound Wednesday night.

He had been taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown after the Jan. 29 shooting in which he killed 44-year-old Cheryl Tremmel. The Mercer County coroner said she died of multiple gunshot wounds.

Police charged Edward Tremmel with criminal homicide, but he was never well enough to be arraigned.

The couple's daughters have been placed in the care of relatives.

Police haven't discussed a motive, but relatives have said Cheryl Tremmel was planning to leave her husband.
