Bob Errey: Pens Are As Dangerous As They've Ever Been
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) – ROOT Sports Penguins analyst Bob Errey joined "The Fan Morning Show" on Tuesday as the Penguins prepare for a big matchup with the Islanders tonight.
Errey was live from the Financial District in New York, and he used a Wall Street-inspired analogy to describe his growing confidence in the Pens.
"If we're talking about a stock, you want to invest in the Penguins right now," Errey said.
Errey thinks that the Pens are now deep in every area - both up front, on the back end, and in the crease - and that combining a solid roster with the improvement of the Pens' stars makes for a dangerous hockey club.
"Nobody wants to play the Penguins," Errey said. "The Penguins are a team that's really dangerous right now, as dangerous as they've ever been."
Errey believes that new head coach Mike Sullivan has given this team a jolt, and that it has led to them surging just in time for the stretch run.
"It's new stuff, it's new energy from the young players, it's new practice habits, some new schemes and some new practice drills," Errey said. "Sometimes you get lethargic, and you go through the motions. The Penguins aren't going through the motions right now. They're peaking at the right time."
And while Errey is trying not to get ahead of himself, he can already start to feel something special building in Pittsburgh.
"You can't take anything for granted, because it is going to be a heck of a push to the playoffs," Errey said. "But you get in, and you get in the way the Penguins are playing now, and you know it's going to be some great hockey, some of the best playoff hockey we've seen in a while, I believe."
