Get Marty: H.S. Employee With Special Needs Suddenly Fired

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A special needs employee at a local high school reached out to Get Marty.

"I couldn't take it anymore, Marty. I have stress. How much can I take, sir?" said Michael Fedlock.

Fedlock is a 20-year employee of the Baldwin-Whitehall School District. Now he is suspended pending termination.

"I don't know why, Marty. Help me, Marty," said Fedlock.

Fedlock cannot read or write. He cannot read any of the disciplinary letters sent to him by the district.

Documents state that he has performed his duties poorly, but Fedlock said that his supervisor has unrealistic expectations, examining corners with a flashlight to check for dirt.

He is 61-years-old and worries he will not be able to find another job considering he has special needs.

"This is troubling," said civil rights attorney Maggie Coleman.

We reached out to Coleman to defend Fedlock.

"If you've got somebody who's been a loyal dedicated employee for that long who doesn't have any record of discipline or poor performance, it seems very shoddy to me to suddenly pushed them out the door," Coleman said.

Coleman explained if the district doesn't offer some sort of settlement with Fedlock she will have no choice but to sue under the Americans With Disabilities Act.
