Police Seek 2 Suspects After Greensburg Break-In, Shooting

GREENSBURG (KDKA) -- Police in Westmoreland County are trying to track down two men who they say broke into a home and then shot a man who lived there.

Lynn Hines has lived on Highland Avenue in Greensburg for nearly 30 years, and never has she heard of anything like what apparently happened right next door.

"I was shocked, I really was," said Hines.

According to Greensburg Police, two armed assailants broke into the home next door and shot a 24-year-old man who lived there.

"There's always someone young over there. You know, you've got a lot of traffic going in and out," said Hines. "They would come at all hours, late, you know."

It was about 1:30 a.m. Saturday when police say the victim found two men crouching in the kitchen. Officials say one of the men opened fire, hitting the victim in the leg twice. The wounds were not life-threatening.

KDKA's Ross Guidotti knocked on the door of the home Tuesday, but the person inside did not answer.

The two suspects remain on the run.

"It is crazy," said Hines. "It does scare me."

Because it was so dark in the house at the time of the shooting, the victim couldn't provide investigators a good description of the suspects. Greensburg Police continue the investigation.
