Fayette Co. Teen Facing Charges For Crash That Killed 2 In 2014

UNIONTOWN (KDKA) - A Uniontown teenager has been charged in an accident that killed two other teenagers in 2014.

According to state police, 19-year-old Rodney Harris was driving about 90 mph on the night of March 12, 2014.

His car spun out of control on Walnut Hill Road near the Route 119 northbound exit in South Union Township. The car crossed the center lane and collided with an SUV coming from the other direction.

Four Uniontown High School students were inside.

It was the worst day of Amanda McFadden's life.

"There's a lot of anger and there's always pain," says McFadden, a mother of one of the victims. "My life will never be the same."

On that terrible day in 2014, McFadden's 16-year-old son, Trevor, died in the violent automobile accident.

"I just don't understand what was going through his head, going that fast," said McFadden.

De'Andre Jones, 17, was also killed in the accident.

Today, state police announced charges against Harris, including felony aggravated assault by vehicle and two counts of homicide by motor vehicle.

"I felt relief. This day has finally come. I didn't know why it took so long," said McFadden.

McFadden is reminded every day of her boy and the loss of him.

"I have signs Trevor is with me every day. I feel him near and he gives me comfort," she says.

McFadden says she's now trying to prepare for what's ahead - the painful memories brought back by the hearings and a possible criminal trial.

"I'm not prepared for it at all. I don't even know if I could take being here, but it's something I need to do. I need to be there," she said. "There's no time anyone can get, no punishment. There's nothing that can bring my son back."
