Pittsburgh Man Jailed In Pizza Delivery Delay Brawl

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A local man was so mad his pizza delivery was late, he decided to make a delivery of his own.

The disgruntled man stormed into a Hazelwood pizza shop and began throwing and breaking things.

Neil Orr, 59, is facing charges of felony aggravated assault, trespassing, and making terroristic threats after police say he got into a brawl with a chef at a Hazelwood pizzeria, because the pizza he ordered was not delivered on time.

Police say Orr placed an order by phone on Wednesday to the Italian Village Pizza shop on Second Avenue. But, because it was about 15 minutes late, he called to complain when his pizza wasn't delivered after an hour. Then, he showed up at the pizzeria, and police say he attacked the chef with a stool several times, and tossed a calculator at him. Orr ended up falling backwards, and hitting his head, causing a large gash.

Dave Winkowski, the pizza shop owner, told KDKA-TV's Ralph Iannotti, "Neil comes in here all the time, I take him home sometimes, he's a really nice guy, I don't know, he must have had a bad day."

Winkowski says his employee was not hurt in the altercation, and he would welcome Orr back into his restaurant anytime, saying "he'll come in, and apologize, and it'll be all over."

Orr was treated and released at UPMC Mercy Hospital for the gash on the top of his head he received in the fight at the pizzeria, and he has a preliminary hearing scheduled for March 29.
