JEANNETTE (KDKA) — A female teacher in the Jeannette City School District is under investigation for an alleged inappropriate relationship with a male student.

The faculty member has not been identified, as no charges have yet been filed.

The school district released a statement, reading in part, “The Jeannette City School District Administration was recently made aware of a situation involving possible inappropriate conduct of a District employee of a personal nature toward a District student.”

The statement goes on to say the safety and welfare of students is placed ahead of all other interests.

The Jeannette School Board addressed the issue at a meeting Monday night.

Jeannette Police are assisting Westmoreland County detectives with the investigation.
