Police Say Man Exposed Himself To Amish Community Multiple Times

NEW HOLLAND, Pa. (AP) - State police have charged a man with exposing himself to several members of a central Pennsylvania Amish community because he knew they wouldn't use phones to call for help.

Thirty-nine-year-old Benjamin Grafius, of New Holland, has been charged with eight incidents of indecent exposure from June through September, including four incidents targeting children.

Police say Grafius would stop his vehicle and engage in conversation with some of the female victims, exposed himself at least twice to roadside Amish merchants, and even approached another woman in a horse-drawn buggy.

The suspect's public defender could not immediately be reached for comment Tuesday. He faces a preliminary hearing April 5.

State police in Lancaster are asking anyone else who may have been targeted by Grafius to call them.
