Police Raid Suspected Youngwood "Molly" Lab; 2 Taken Into Custody

YOUNGWOOD (KDKA) – Two people have been detained after police raided a suspected drug lab in Westmoreland County.

Officials raided a home near the intersection of Wilson Avenue and 7th Street in Youngwood around 10 a.m. Wednesday.

With respirators and protective boots on, members of the State Police Clandestine Lab team started taking evidence out of the two-story town home.

Much of it, potentially volatile substances to make MDA, or as it's known on the street, "Molly."

"I'd say, from all appearances, it appears that MDA is being made here and sold from here," said one law enforcement official.

The agent that KDKA spoke to asked we not reveal his identity.

He said, so great was the potential for danger, Westmoreland County detectives had neighbors evacuate. The home was loaded with specialized chemicals.

"Most of them are chemicals ordered from a chemical laboratory," the law enforcement official said.

During the operation, officials say UPS showed up with a delivery of more chemicals, believed to be used in the manufacturing of MDA.

"What if my child were to pick something up, thinking it was candy or something, and put it in their mouth?" said Patti Cromling, a neighbor.

Cromling lives next door to the alleged MDA lab. She says alleged drug deals were going on at all hours. She got so worried she decided to re-arrange her child's bedroom.

"For fear of, drug deal gone bad, they'd start shooting. We had to move my son from one side of the house to the other side because we were scared about that," said Cromling.

Two people were arrested at the scene, identified as Allen Vidonish and Kelly Durler. The shared the home where the raid happened with a 3-year-old. The child wasn't home at the time of the raid.

"I'm relieved it's done and taken care of; I feel bad for the baby, you know," said Cromling.

Both suspects were processed and face numerous charges. The child is now in the custody of Westmoreland County CYS.
