RECALL: Gerber Pulls Food Pouches Over Spoilage Concerns

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Gerber is pulling some of their food pouches off shelves due to a spoilage concern.

According to their website, two batches of GERBER® Organic 2ND FOODS® Pouches - Pears, Carrots & Peas and two batches of GERBER® Organic 2ND FOODS® Pouches - Carrots, Apples & Mangoes with best by dates of July 12, 2016, July 13, 2016, July 14, 2016, may be susceptible to spoilage.

This is reportedly due to a packaging defect.

Gerber wrote in their recall alert, in part:

"As a result you may notice that, in some cases, those pouches are bloated or product inside may have an off taste or odor. We are proactively working to retrieve all remaining pouches of the affected batches that fail to meet our quality standards."
