BRENTWOOD (KDKA) -- Allegheny County Police and the Medical Examiner are investigating the discovery of human remains in a wooded area in Brentwood.

Police used quads to get to the spot off of Bevan Road behind a large apartment complex where the discovery was made.

It's believed a teenager taking a shortcut through the woods found the remains.

Firefighters set up flood lights as darkness fell and investigators searched the scene for possible clues.

Police sources told KDKA-TV News the body was that of a man. It was badly decomposed.

The Medical Examiner's office stated that "the remains were skeletonized with weathering that is consistent with the passage of at least one year since death."

There were no outward signs of foul play; however, the death is considered "suspicious" until an autopsy is performed.

Officials believe the remains are that of a 5-60 year old man, standing 5'6'' to 5'10''.
