Police Bust Marijuana Grow Operation In Hazelwood

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Pittsburgh Police busted a marijuana grow operation in Hazelwood this weekend.

It happened in the area of Hazelwood Avenue and Sabina Street Sunday evening.

Lynne Hayes-Freeland was on the scene as officers removed 72 marijuana plants.

Michael David Sullivan, 33, was arrested on charges of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver, manufacturing a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police say a complaint of a strong odor of marijuana at the residence led them to the grow operation. Inside, they found lamps and tents in addition to the plants.

Neighbors said they had not seen anything that would indicate illegal activity was going on at the house.

All evidence removed by the the Department of Public Works was destroyed.
