Trooper Accused Of Exposing Himself While On Barracks Property Headed To Trial

GREENSBURG (KDKA) -- A state trooper, accused of exposing himself to a woman on barracks property in Westmoreland County, has been ordered to stand trial after his accuser took the stand today at a preliminary hearing.

Eric Zona is charged in the October 2015 incident.

The 46-year-old veteran state trooper is accused of exposing himself and allegedly performing a sexual act in front of the victim in a building on the grounds of the barracks in Greensburg.

"It's an example of an allegation being made and somebody's life grinding to a rather traumatic halt," said defense attorney Dick Galloway.

Tuesday's preliminary hearing saw only the alleged victim testify.

On the stand, she testified that she met Zona at the barracks to buy some items from a special state police store located there.

She said when she picked up items and asked for a discount, Zona allegedly exposed himself, saying he'd grant a price break if the victim touched him.

However, in testimony, the victim admitted she continued to shop for clothes and even engaged in small talk with Zona before she left.

"Certain things she said happened, and then, somewhat inconsistently with that, she continued to shop," said Galloway.
