PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — When a dream vacation turned ugly for a Gibsonia couple, they called Get Marty.
“It was the vacation from Hell,” says Marty Kowalewski.
“I started crying,” says Sandy Kowalewski.
The couple planned their dream vacation to Aruba last January. The Kowalewskis booked the Apple Vacations through AAA Travel.
When they arrived at the RIU Palace Hotel though, they were told they had no rooms.
“We had all of our luggage. We had nowhere to go. We were trapped,” says Sandy.
The couple sat in the hotel lobby for nearly seven hours. Finally, they got a room. However, they were told they had to leave the next day.
“This went on for three nights. It ruined our vacation,” says Marty.
The couple spent more than $5,000 on the trip and wanted some sort of compensation for their troubles.
“It was so stressful. It was awful. No one even apologized,” says Marty.
For more than two months, no one was willing to help. That’s when the couple decided to Get Marty.
“I told my wife, I’m calling Marty,” he said.
KDKA immediately reached out to AAA. The company stepped up fast.
“We believe in making things right,” says Tracy Edwards with AAA.
AAA compensated the Kowalewskis for the nights they were put out of their room in Aruba.
“We are thrilled with AAA and with you Marty,” says Sandy.
AAA recommends a travel agent anytime you leave the country.
