Police: Argument Over $40 Led To Fatal Double Shooting In Etna

ETNA (KDKA) -- Court papers filed by police provide new information about the man charged in a double murder in Etna.

Josh Huber told reporters that it was self-defense, but according to the papers, he admitted neither of the victims had a weapon.

Melissa Zuk, 22, of McCandless, and Derek Schindler, 30, of Glenshaw, were found shot to death inside Huber's apartment in Etna.

A fourth person, a friend of Zuk's was also there but not shot.

According to the paperwork, Huber told police the group had been drinking and smoking pot when an argument started over a missing $40.

He claims Zuk began smacking and slapping him, and allegedly told investigators: "I shot them. She kept coming at me. I shot them."

He allegedly admitted to shooting Zuk first and then Schindler after he came charging at him.

Neighbor Don Cox may be responsible for Huber's quick capture.

"Seven o'clock this morning, I heard yelling and screaming coming from the apartment underneath me," said Cox. "I heard pop, pop, pop, pop, grabbed my phone called 911, grabbed a 12-gauge and headed down the steps."

He says he encountered Huber as he appeared to be leaving.

"Stuck a 12-gauge in his face and made him get on the floor. It's hard to argue with a 12-gauge," he said.

Huber faces two counts of criminal homicide.
