1-Year-Old Dies After Falling Into Backyard Pool
MERCER (KDKA)- A 1-year-old has died at Children's Hospital after falling into a backyard pool.
Emergency crews were called to a house along Andrusky Road in Mercer around 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
Pheylin Cline, 1, lived with her family on Brent Road in Volant. Her family were visiting relatives when she fell into a neighbor's pool.
According to neighbors, the little girl had been playing with other children in a house nearby. She wandered off and was found when a neighbor saw her in the pool.
Her grandmother told KDKA she was at work when it happened.
"She was being babysat, while her dad worked and my daughter was going to get her at 4:30. From 2:15 to 4:30 something happened, she wandered off," Barbara Cline said.
The 1-year-old was rushed to Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh. She passed away from her injuries at 1:49 a.m. on Thursday.
"She was a fighter, she just couldn't fight any more," Cline said. "It's a terrible tragedy, she was loved."
An autopsy is expected later today.
