Car Crashes Into Castle Shannon Apartment Building, Elderly Woman Injured

CASTLE SHANNON (KDKA) -- An elderly woman was injured in a crash in Castle Shannon Thursday afternoon.

It happened just after 3:30 p.m. in the 3600 block of Willow Avenue.

Officials say a 90-year-old woman thought she had her vehicle in drive when it was actually in neutral. The car moved backwards and hit an apartment building.

The driver either jumped or fell out of the car while it was rolling backward.

The apartment complex owner is reporting a little structural damage, but says he's more concerned about the health of his tenant.

"She bailed out right before it went over the hill, thank God," said Dwight Labrosse, who owns the building. "She's been a tenant here since we opened the building. She's been a great tenant and we're just hoping everything is going to turn out okay."
