Evacuation Lifted In Salem Twp., Normal Business To Resume
SALEM TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- The evacuation in part of Salem Township that was in place following Friday's explosion was lifted Sunday.
Homes and businesses within a quarter-mile radius of the pipeline were evacuated by emergency officials Friday following the explosion. Chief Bob Rosatti, of the Forbes Road Fire Department said Sunday that the evacuation had been lifted, and normal business should resume in the area Monday.
Route 819 remains closed until Monday so PennDOT crews can continue repairs.

The explosion happened around 8 a.m. Friday, in a pipeline operated by Texas Eastern Transmission. Multiple homes were damaged in the blast. Officials are still working to determine the cause.
