2 Men Questioned In Shooting That Claimed Washington Co. Woman's Life

WASHINGTON, Pa. (KDKA) -- One day after a senseless murder in Washington County, no one has been arrested and no clear motive has been disclosed.

After several hours of questioning, Shawn Sessoms, who has been named by police as a person of interest in the City of Washington's latest homicide, was booked on drug-related charges late Thursday.

He denied involvement in the murder and said he didn't know the victim, 19-year-old Alexis Barnett.

Jamaal Greene, who was picked up at the same time as Sessoms, was also questioned at length. He was arrested on a parole violation

Neither man is charged with homicide, but both were questioned about the Wednesday night shooting death of Barnett.

Jasmine Young, a friend who was walking with Barnett at the time of the shooting was also wounded. Young was treated and released from the hospital.

In the 1100-block of Bruce Street, near the spot where Barnett was killed, there is now a growing makeshift memorial.

Barnett's first cousin, Shaqueyh Wilson, told KDKA-TV's Ralph Iannotti, "Alexis was the life of the party, always trying to have fun. She graduated from Washington High School around this time last year. She went to PTI, the community college."

Another friend of the murdered victim said, "Alexis was always fun to be around. I wasn't as close to her as everyone else, but always fun, always happy."

Washington Police Lt. Dan Stanek told reporters, "We believe, at this time, neither one of the victims was targeted in the shooting. There was a separate individual in the area that was targeted. These girls happened to be in the wrong place, at the wrong time."

That separate individual was walking with Barnett and her friends. He has not been named, but is cooperating with investigators.

Police are trying to identify the occupants of a silver vehicle seen in the neighborhood when the gunfire erupted. The shots may have come from that silver car.
