Outbound Fort Pitt Tunnel To Close For Weekend Work

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - The outbound side of the Fort Pitt Tunnel will be shut down this weekend.

According to PennDOT, the tunnel will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Monday.

Crews will be paving and milling the road and the following detour will be in effect:

Westbound (outbound)

  • From the Fort Pitt Bridge, traffic will take the ramp to North Route 837/Route 51 West End (Exit 69C)
  • Follow Route 837 (West Carson Street) to the West End Circle
  • Turn left onto southbound Route 19/51 toward the Airport
  • Follow southbound Route 19/51 to Carnegie/Airport ramp to I-376 Parkway West
  • End detour

Police will be manned along the detour to help with the flow of traffic. However, significant delays should be expected.
