Prosecutors say Green kicked the boy in the stomach and face, squeezed him until he threw up and then claimed the boy fell down the stairs in March 2015.

The boy's mother, Stephanie Green, is serving a year's probation for giving false statements to police to cover up the abuse.

The boy's father, Ryan Roycroft, says the boy is recovering physically but says, "The emotional healing is much slower."
