Man Hit & Killed Outside Downtown Strip Club

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A man died from his injuries after being struck by a car downtown early Wednesday morning.

The man was struck on 9th Street around 2:30 a.m., outside Blush Gentlemen's Club.

"We believe he was leaving a nightclub in the area and he was getting into a cab," Pittsburgh Public Safety Spokeswoman Emily Schaffer said.  "At this point, we're still trying to determine what exactly happened. We know that the victim was crossing the street, mid-block. There was not a designated crosswalk in that area."

The victim has been identified as Stephen Antenucci, 42, of Burlington, Ontario. He was taken to Allegheny General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Schaffer said Antenucci was with other people at the time. They stayed at the scene as well as the 26-year-old driver who hit Anenucci.

"The victim was with several other individuals. I don't know what their relationship was," Schaffer said. "The driver did stay on scene and he is cooperating with the investigation."

Police blocked off the area for about three hours to investigate the scene. It's unclear if the driver will be charged.

"So we are speaking with witnesses and trying to determine what exactly happened here.  And at this time, there are no charges filed in the investigation," Schaffer said.

Police will look for any surveillance video from that area that could help in the investigation.
