Police Investigation Into Man's Mysterious Death Stalls, Family Pleading For Help

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The family of a man who was found badly injured in an alleyway near a Brookline pizza shop and later died are pleading for help because police say their investigation has stalled.

A week and a half after the death of 28-year-old Jordan Bozich, Pittsburgh Police say how the man suffered his fatal injuries remains a mystery.

"We are waiting for toxicology to come back, which could be a couple of months," said Pittsburgh Police Homicide Det. George Satler. "In the meantime, our investigation is stalled at this point."

Bozich, from Westmoreland County, died on May 15, hours after he was badly injured near a pizzeria on Capital Avenue in the city's Brookline section.

He died of blunt force trauma to the head.

It's not clear, however, if he was assaulted by someone or whether he hurt himself when he tumbled down a steep hillside behind the restaurant.

"There were reports in the media that he was assaulted and beaten, but we don't know that [for sure] at this time," Det. Satler said.

But the victim's father, David Bozich, says he thinks his son was met with foul play.

"It appears to us, the way his car was sitting and his phone was smashed and he ran disoriented, that he must have been attacked," said David. "His hands were broken, his wrists were broken, [a] major blow to his head."

Police want potential witnesses to come forward, regardless of what they saw in the area the morning Bozich was found seriously hurt.

The family has set up a Facebook page to remember Jordan and to seek information about his death.

They're also offering what they call a "substantial" reward for information that leads to an arrest.
